SAN DIEGO (California) The number of outpatient procedures is on the rise, with outpatient knee replacements expected to increase by more than 450 percent nationally, and hip replacements by more than 630 percent, in the next decade.1 Outpatient surgery has the potential to cut joint replacement costs nearly in half and improve the patient experience with potentially lower risk of complications, as well as an overall more streamlined and efficient experience.
Medacta, a family-owned global orthopedics leader, has engineered its joint and spine surgery platforms to accommodate the demand for outpatient and same-day surgery. At this year’s American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) Annual Meeting, Medacta will detail its comprehensive set of products and resources that can make this growing trend possible for orthopedic surgeons, ambulatory service center (ASC) owners and hospitals.
“Outpatient total joint replacement is leading the no- or short-hospitalization movement that is gaining traction in the United States,” said Francesco Siccardi, Executive Vice President for Medacta International.
